Research Plan

The Research Plan System provides the necessary technical processes to preserve, review, and archive all scientific activities across the university’s various formations — including colleges and research centers — and to monitor their implementation throughout the academic year under the direct supervision of the Scientific Affairs Department in the Office of the Assistant President of the University for Scientific Affairs.

The research plan is defined as a preliminary description of a scientific activity whose implementation depends on collecting relevant data and information, and concluding it with a clear scientific output, such as participation in a conference, publishing a paper in a journal, organizing workshops or scientific discussion seminars, among other academic activities. This ultimately achieves the goals of the activity as a fundamental pillar of the strategy of Al-Furat Al-Awsat Technical University – College of Administrative Technology.

The research plan can also be viewed as a future vision or a pre-designed model that predicts the nature of practical activity and the method of its execution through a set of steps and stages followed by researchers in colleges and centers during their research work.

A research plan helps any researcher to carry out work in an organized, accurate, and timely manner. It also helps in setting priorities. Therefore, neglecting to prepare a research plan is considered a major flaw that diminishes the academic institution’s scientific value.

Hence, adhering to all standards of preparing a research plan is a fundamental requirement that distinguishes academic scientific work. It requires researchers to exert considerable effort and dedicate significant time to the preparation and writing of research, which must be based on a professional plan that reflects the university’s ongoing development in the field of scientific research.

Academic Planning

Standards 2024–2025

The department administration in any university formation must prepare a comprehensive and integrated scientific research plan and strive to ensure coherence among the various elements of this plan.

It is essential that the department clarifies, through the research plan, the mechanisms that will be adopted in collecting materials for the plan (such as published research papers and reports of scientific participations).

One of the most important standards in preparing a research plan is to focus on the logical, correct, and precise arrangement of all its components. The plan must be complete, successful, and connected to the research questions and hypotheses related to the academic interests of the researcher.

An outstanding research plan yields consistent results even when implemented by more than one qualified researcher based on the application of its contents.

The process of academic scientific documentation for all citations is mandatory at all stages of scientific research, especially during the preparation of the research plan.

A department — or even an individual researcher — should not begin preparing and writing their scientific research plan without first reviewing and familiarizing themselves with a variety of research plans related to their field, especially those that address the same topic or phenomenon being studied.
