The Women\u2019s Affairs Unit at the Administrative Technical College \/ Kufa organized an educational seminar titled \u201cEradicating Illiteracy in Rural and Remote Areas: A Bridge Toward Development and Empowerment\u201d, presented by Assistant Lecturer Ilaf Qasim Mohammed on Monday, 24\/11\/2025.\n\nThe seminar covered several key points, including:\n\nThe concept and dimensions of illiteracy: Illiteracy is not limited to the inability to read; it expands to include functional illiteracy such as weak life and work-related skills, as well as digital illiteracy.\n\nThe reality of illiteracy in rural and remote areas: Challenges include poor infrastructure, economic hardship that forces children to leave school to help in farming or labor, and traditions that still deprive girls of education in some regions.\n\nThe effects of illiteracy on development: These include economic impacts that limit an individual\u2019s productivity and ability to integrate into the labor market, as well as social, health, and political consequences.\n\nSuccessful strategies for combating illiteracy in rural areas: The lecturer highlighted key strategies such as establishing flexible community centers with schedules suitable for women, using technology in education, and integrating literacy programs with vocational training to develop practical skills.\n\nThe seminar concluded with ways to make literacy a bridge toward development and empowerment through:\n\nIndividual empowerment: Acquiring reading and writing skills opens opportunities for work and self-learning.\n\nCommunity empowerment: Educated communities are better able to organize themselves and participate in development.\n\nEconomic empowerment: Educated women can contribute to increasing household income through small projects.\n\nDigital empowerment: Teaching technology helps integrate individuals into the digital economy. <\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t
