Under the Patronage of the Dean of the Administrative Technical College \/ Kufa,\nAssistant Professor Dr. Dirgham Hassan Abd Al-Abdali,\n\nThe Women\u2019s Affairs Unit at the college organized a scientific and awareness seminar entitled \u201cViolence Against Women: Between Culture, Reality, and Religion.\u201d The seminar was held as part of the National Strategy for Combating Violence Against Women and Girls, and was delivered by Lecturer Asst. Farqad Alaa Hilal on Wednesday, 4\/3\/2026.\n\nThe seminar included an extensive discussion on the phenomenon of violence against women. The lecturer highlighted its main forms, including physical, psychological, verbal, and economic violence, and addressed the issue through several key perspectives, most notably:\n\nThe cultural dimension: related to traditions and customs that justify violence in the name of obedience, honor, and upbringing, and that attempt to reinforce ideas portraying men as dominant and women as less valued.\n\nThe religious dimension: focusing on the misinterpretation of religious texts in ways that serve certain cultural practices.\n\nThe seminar also addressed the major consequences of violence, including:\n\nPsychological effects: such as depression, anxiety, and loss of self-confidence.\n\nSocial effects: including family disintegration and improper upbringing of children.\n\nEconomic effects: related to reduced productivity and poverty.\n\nSocietal effects: which may contribute to the spread of violence and crime.\n\nFurthermore, the lecturer highlighted the role of the family in reducing violence through:\n\nPromoting values of respect and equality.\n\nTeaching children dialogue instead of violence.\n\nSupporting women and refusing to justify abuse.\n\nThe seminar concluded by emphasizing the importance of strengthening community awareness among teaching staff and students, and activating the role of academic institutions in addressing social issues and negative phenomena, in order to build a cohesive society that respects rights and freedoms.<\/span><\/span><\/strong><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
