For the second consecutive day, the activities of the conference, sponsored by the Najaf Governorate Council, continue. The conference is organized by the Federal Integrity Commission / Department of Relations with Non-Governmental Organizations, and the Dijla Center for Strategic Planning / Najaf Ashraf Branch, with the participation of the Holy Al-Abbas Shrine.
The conference witnessed the attendance of Dr. Hussein Al-Essawi, Chairman of the Najaf Governorate Council, Dr. Bishara Zankana, Vice Chairman of the Integrity Commission, several members of the Governorate Council, the Director of the Integrity Commission in Najaf, political and cultural figures, and religious leaders. The event was held at the Culture Palace Hall.
The day’s activities began with the recitation of a verse from the Holy Quran. Then, the Chairman of the Governorate Council gave a speech in which he praised the efforts of the Federal Integrity Commission in organizing this conference despite its significant responsibilities in combating corruption. He emphasized the importance of religious discourse in contemporary times and its positive impact on collective behavior, stressing the necessity of utilizing this positive discourse to address the challenges and corruption affecting public funds.
The conference included discussions on several scientific and applied research papers, discussed over two scientific sessions. The first session was chaired by Colonel (Asst. Prof. Dr. Dhirgham Hassan Al-Abdali), during which various research papers were presented and discussed. The second session was chaired by Dr. Salman Al-Naqash from the Department of Relations with Non-Governmental Organizations at the Integrity Commission.
The discussions and contributions were fruitful and valuable, with input from the Vice Chairman of the Integrity Commission, the Director General of the Department of Relations with Non-Governmental Organizations, religious figures, and academics, enriching the conference and the ideas presented.
The conference concluded with several important recommendations, including the necessity of holding seminars and conferences related to religious discourse, emphasizing the importance of unifying religious discourse to confront unethical behaviors. It also called for supporting and highlighting more ethical behaviors, and the need to develop multiple strategies for religious discourse that contribute to raising national spirit in religious speeches. Additionally, the importance of the Commission’s work in creating a unified scale to measure integrity and transparency, aligned with international standards and suitable for the specifics of the Iraqi environment, was stressed.
